With our tasting room situated right in the very hub of the Oakland's most vibrant and diverse community, we are proud to be pouring some of the most interesting wines in the San Francisco Bay Area. Come in and expand your wine horizons, tasting small-lot wines, individually crafted, using grape varieties you may have never heard of.

Our wine maker Pietro Buttitta works with Italian varieties such as Nebbiolo, Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Aglianico, and many others, tending the vineyards by hand, using no chemicals, and ensuring the individual personalities of the wines are expressed to their fullest so you can taste their uniqueness.

We'll lead you through a flight of wines, so can can taste the differences side-by-side, discovering what you like. There's absolutely no need to be an expert in wine — this is about you, and what you love.
So, join us in our tasting room located in Oakland's Temescal District. We're surrounded by good food, and we can also provide cheese plates to go with your tasting. Prima Materia's tasting room is open on weekends 2-7pm on Saturday, and 2-6pm on Sunday. We are located at 482 49th Street, at Telegraph Ave. & 49th in the Temescal Alleys of North Oakland, behind Esqueleto. We offer two different flights of 6 wines to try, and for every two bottles purchased we'll comp the tasting of one tasting flight. We only have outdoor seating, so please consider the weather when visiting. Children and dogs are welcome, a sample menu is below, and we are all vaccinated. ​ Wheelchair accessible tables are available.
